...I guess I have things to say?

Um, okay, let's start with Buffy this time. Annnnnnd, also, IT WAS THE BEST SEASON (...so far, anyway). Ugh, idk, idk, I had all these things I was going to say about it, but basically it all boiled down to, like, LIST OF THINGS I LOVED ABOUT S3 (Giles, Willow, Oz, Spike, Buffy/Giles cuteness, Willow/Oz, Willow/Xander [WILLOW/OZ/XANDER, GUYS, COME ONNNNNN], "Band Candy" [I mean, I liked other episodes, too, but THAT WAS OBVIOUSLY THE BEST]), and LIST OF THINGS I COULD HAVE DONE WITH LESS OF, BUT ACTUALLY WEREN'T EVEN THAT BAD (Faith, Anya, everyone [but mostly Xander] being a douche to Buffy in the beginning of the season, NOT ENOUGH SPIKE).
idk, you guys, I even sort of liked Angel, this season! I mean, the mushy, mopey Buffy/Angel moments still weren't my favorites, but this season they were mixed in with a good amount of Angel, Resident Team Vampire moments (which I love), soooo. Plus, about halfway through the season, I realized.....Angel is a really great boyfriend, to Buffy (I actually said this out loud, too, in the middle of "Earshot" - you know, when he's fighting the demon so he can feed Buffy its heart so she won't go crazy?? - yeah), and they obvz mean a lot to each other (I think it also helped that everyone's acting was a lot better than in S1, so I actually believed they meant a lot to each other), so, y'know. I can't really hate.

BUT! On that note, I think I'm going to take a Buffy break?? For now, anyway, I mean, it's very likely that I'll come back to watching it, in a bit, but -- okay, I've sort of spoiled myself for things coming up (no more Oz or Cordy! Xander/Anya! more Faith! ...other new characters I haven't met yet and so am unfairly judging [and disliking] rn!), and, dude, DNW. Soooo for right now the kids (+Giles) have saved the day, graduated from high school, and are (more or less) happy to have the future still open and uncertain ahead of them. ...and like that, for now, anyway, I leave them.

Finishing S3 actually took a little longer than anticipated, though, because in the middle, my parents and I flew out to Seattle to visit my brother, sister-in-law, and little nephews! Because my nephews have their birthdays so close together (if you'll recall), we just had a joint birthday party for both of them - at the Pacific Science Center (and dinosaur themed!). It was pretty great, and the whole trip was a lot of fun (and...featured a lot of Legos, idek), but ultimately we were only out there for about 5 days. But it's okay, though, since they're going to come over to the East Coast to visit, in May! So, y'know, EXCITE.

Otherwise the only other big thing going on rn is my working at the zoo! Which, I am pleased to report, I am getting more confident in as I get more knowledgeable about How Things Work There. I even handled some mealworms bare-handed yesterday (lulz, this sounds so dumb, but, remember, WORMS ARE THE WORST) - though it def helped that I was feeding them to a little African Hedgehog (named Sonic. TRUE STORY) crawling around on my lap.

But the other, more important, imo, part of doing this internship is, I'm learning about what parts of behind-the-scenes work I like, and what parts I don't as much, and how I can use this experience to further build my plans for the future. ...actually, it's kind of funny, my interviewer, at the beginning of all this, said basically the same thing - and she also said that I could do the Animal Care internship (obviously), but it also sounded like I'd want to consider working in the Education department. Aaaaand I GUESS SHE KNEW WHAT SHE WAS TALKING ABOUT, because guess what internship I want to do next (this current one ends in March, but we were told that we could either stay on, in the position, or transfer to another internship, and a lot of people end up doing one or the other)!!

I mean, don't get me wrong, the Animal Care internship is great, and I know that I'm doing a lot of hard work to make sure the animals stay healthy and happy. And I did just want to work with the marine mammals, at the Shedd, right, so I figured it was good training. But, idk, ultimately - it's not fun, really?? I mean, I certainly don't mind working to take care of the animals, and if that's what I end up doing, as a job, I'd be okay with that. But, idk, I don't get excited about going in, these days, and, at the end of the day, I don't feel like I want to feel - that is, satisfied that I've done a good job, and had a fulfilling day.

Really, what I want to do - what I've wanted to do ever since I realized I wanted to work in a museum/zoo/aquarium however many years ago - is be able to get people - and myself, tbh - excited about learning, and to have them enjoy it. I figured animal care would do that well enough, but, like, I'm not even learning new things, really, except for, like, how to clean bunny hutches, or how to chop up fruits and vegetables really, really small (I H8 CHOPPING LETTUCE, U GAIZ~). But I could be a Public Education intern, next, which means actually getting to help develop the educational programs and activities (among other things), which would be great - I'd (I'm assuming) get to take in new facts and animal information, and then be able to work through it and help get it out to other people in a fun and exciting way!
And, I mean, half of the animals I'm working with now are animals that get used for Education programs, so, y'know, bonus experience, in that way (plus it's probably good to have some actual hands-on animal experience, either way)!

And, uh, also, I was looking around the internets, to see what kind of experience various people got before getting their current Animal Care positions, and, um...you need a lot...?? Which makes sense, I mean, they're not just going to let you take care of wild animals right off the bat, but, like - I majored in English, you guys; even just from a What Am I More Currently Prepared For standpoint...Iiiiii'm going with education (...I feel like I should disclaim here, though, I still don't want to be a school teacher!! WORKING IN MUSEUMS/ZOOS/AQUARIUMS 4 LYPHE~~).
