splits_thesky: (misc: I THOUGHT I LOST YOU!!!1!)
Okay, thing number one (which is going to be a repeat for some of you, sry abt that), [livejournal.com profile] boheme06 and I saw The Eagle last weekend, which -- okay. ....Well, wait, okay, let me just c&p what she said about it, because that's basically EXACTLY what I was going to say: Listen. If you consider yourself a slasher/fangirl and you don't somehow get around to seeing this movie, you should reconsider your life decisions. I really wanted to see it because I have a love of all things Channing Tatum and the trailer made it look like 300 meets Lord of the Rings. Which it was in terms of completely ridiculous slash moments, but not in terms of great movie-ness. (...except for...I had a love of all things Jamie Bell, instead, going in, buuuuut I HAVE ALSO COME TO LOVE CHANNING, WHAT CAN YOU DO)

Soooo yeah, basically, YOU SHOULD SEE THIS MOVIE, because you will LOVE IT. Like, maybe not as an actual movie, but as an AMAZING, HISTORICAL GAY LOVE STORY, YES. Look, aaaaaaall I'm saying is, we, as fangirls, were in fits in the theater, soooo many times, and HAVE NOT STOPPED flailing about it since, basically. ....Also, we were up for FIVE HOURS that night coming up with increasingly cracky AUs, so, you know, there's that.

Now thing number two, HERE ARE SOME THOUGHTS ON TORCHWOOD (...uhh, keeping in mind I've only seen through 1x08, so far).

....because, OBVIOUSLY, you totally wanted to know. )

So, yeah, anyway. I'm going to keep watching, at least through S1, just for the sake of completeness, but -- idk, after that. I kiiiind of just miss David Tennant flailing around and being ~brilliant~, with his little sticky-up hair and rainbow of Chucks and that awesome trench coat I WANT, SO BAD. Sooooo idk, maybe we'll alternate?? IDK IDK GUYZ, WE'LL SEE~
splits_thesky: (disney: all things fabulous)
I can't believe it's already been a year since I last posted this (and exactly a year, too, wow), but:

and, of course:

(and guys, if you're not done yet, you totally get the satisfaction of coming back and celebrating with these songs when you are!! ....lulz, well, I've been anticipating this post for about a week and a half now, anyway.)

I'm still actually hanging out at school while I wait for a train that my mom will be able to pick me up from (once she gets off work, right), but I am DONE braining, most def.
Now is time for sleeping, and random internet-browsing, and actually being able to watch TV, and FUN. Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] boheme06, you can now totally come visit WHENEVER. Come tomorrow! Hell, come today!! Just let me know when you're on your way, and there will be FUN IN THE SUN (now that all the hard work, work is done - everybody, one for all and al- ...okay, okay, I'll stop now)!!!!

splits_thesky: (Default)
Wait, wait, I'm sorry.

Dear flist, NO ONE decided to make a First of May-related post today?? Generally, there're about FIVE, all in a row. FALLING DOWN ON THE JOB!!

It's totally okay, though, because I realize I've been falling down on the job, too (...the posting job, that is). Right now, though, I'm mainly just trying to make it out of this semester ALIVE.
About a month ago, my semester-attention-span toooootally wore out, and since then my slackerness has just been getting worse and woooorse. Now, at least, though, I only have finals-related stuff to do. I mean, my last day of class isn't until Monday, but I got through all my random, end-of-semester work, so...huzzah??

Anyway, so, IMMINENT FINALS, AAAAAAAHHHHH!!! I'm back home, though - most probably I'm just going to go in to Philly for my finals, and bring back suitcase-loads of stuff whenever I can (because I'm only taking courses the second half of the summer, so I'll be home at first). It's nice to be back, I gotta say, and not only because my kitty is so warm and snuggly (which, surprise, he IS!).

Oh, also, I've, kind of randomly, been catching up on movies I never saw, and always meant to. IDK, it just sort of happened?? But yeah, so now I've FINALLY seen Fight Club, Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters 2, Clue, Shaun of the Dead, aaaand Hot Fuzz. Mostly, I came out of it with a massive newfound crush on Simon Pegg (<33333333333, omgggg), a strong desire to be a Ghostbuster for Halloween, and saying things like, "...I am Jack's complete lack of surprise", and of course, "Fl-flames...FLAMES, ON THE SIDE OF MY FACE...". Ahhh, GOOD TIMES. :D
splits_thesky: (misc: &big big city nights)
Oh hay, I'm back, btw!!

San Francisco was awesome and baby-filled! I spent the large majority of my week helping supervise the nephews, but we also went out to a bunch of cool places, like the totally AWESOME newly-opened museum, and the beach, which was GORGEOUS. Actually, I have some beach pictures I was going to share with y'all, but those'll probably come in a different entry. But they're pretty pretty, if I do say so myself!!

Anyway, so what have you guys been up to?? I read my flist a little bit, but there's no way I can catch up on an entire week's worth of entries. So def let me know what I missed! Or even if nothing super-exciting happened to you, how are you, lovelies?? Good, I hope!

Also, I've been randomly realizing things I miss horribly, but for some reason didn't even realize until now. Like summer - I mean, I love fall and winter and snow and all, but I can't wait for, y'know, flowers, and sunny days and being able to wear pretty skirts and all (the seasons tend to be juuust as long as I need them to be. Like, watch, come August I'll be going on about how much I want crisp leaves and cool breezes and being able to wear boots and jackets and layers). Also, I missed my house something awful (sounds weird, but I've been at my apartment in Philly, and then I was on the west coast last week, right), which I totally didn't realize until a series of random events translated into my staying at home this week (& commuting to school). I totally just sat around and watched Disney Channel this evening, it was glorious (that's the other thing, I miss TV, you guys. I mean, I can download or stream things in my apartment, but it's not quiiite the same as sitting down and watching, with commercials and the ability to channel surf and the inevitability of watching completely RIDICULOUS programming).

Oh, also, I did indeed take Watchmen with me, and managed to finish it in SF! Haven't seen the movie yet, so I'm avoiding all your reviews for now (and everything else, actually - I just never got around to watching the preview when it first came out, and so now it's turned into me actually making an active effort to avoid commercials and all, so it can all be fresh and new for me). But I, hopefully, will be able to make a trek to see it this weekend! EXCITEDFACE. :D

Anyway, so yes, what's going on with you all?? Oh, and happy early St. Patrick's Day, guys!! ♥♥
splits_thesky: (dps: i'm still here)
Just a thought, as I've spent my afternoon being sucked into Get Over It (for, uh, the 17th time or so) on TV - Dear Troy Bolton, you are not the first one to be forced to balance your blossoming, girl-related interest in the high school musical with your intense basketball career!! TAKE NOTE, ZEFRON.

...I really do enjoy Colin Hanks's reaction faces, you guys.
splits_thesky: (andy: 360 degrees of flavor!!)
Okay, well, first, HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY, [livejournal.com profile] violetmist2003!!!! ILU, mass amounts, and hope that you are PARTYING IT UP (or are going to, at any rate) over there in Boston (where I WILL come visit, I swear!! ...eventually.)!!! ♥♥

Secondly, um. OKAY, so I KNOW I make a post like this, like, every two weeks, but GUYS, THE WEST WING!!! I totally just started watching out of curiosity, because I kept hearing about how it was OMGSOGREAT, and then I remembered that my parents used to watch it, and yeah, they thought the same thing too, plus, you know, Emmy-winner and all.
So yes, just out of curiosity, to see if it really measured up, and, well.......it does.
I'm only 3 episodes in (Dulé only just showed up!), but UGGGGHHHHHH YOU GUYS, I LOVE SO MUCH. It's WITTY and ADORABLE, and then MOVING and - just - GORGEOUS.
Plus...well, I don't know how many of you know this (lulz, probably just [livejournal.com profile] boheme06), but I canNOT get into things if I don't at least care about the characters(/parties involved), and, in this case, OH GOD, DO I. You GUYS, I want Sam to be my boyfriend (I LOVE, SO MUCH), and Josh to be his boyfriend (it works, okay), and Leo and Toby and CJ to be my uncles and aunt (none of them even have to be married to each other!! ....although all the Toby/CJ interactions so far have been ADORABLE, okay. ...........WHAT, STOP LOOKING AT ME LIKE THAT.), who I can go talk to whenever I'm feeling shitty, and they'll hug me and make me...like, tea, or something, idk, and really listen and do everything they can to help, even if it's just having a handful of comforting jokes on hand to at least make me feel better, and - just - EVERYBODY, DSASDKHISBDKJJLADSHBFSDJKFNJKSFGKFDJ

...I would totally be more coherent about this, except, um, no I wouldn't, this is how I am when I watch episodes, too, just blathering and heart-eyes all over the place, BUT ALSO because I just saw Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure (which you all are fired for not making me watch earlier, btw), aaaaand so my brain is totally gone (but in the most AWESOME way possible!!).
splits_thesky: (himym: cutest. couple. EVER.)
I actually have a bunch of Olympics-related stuff I want to post, but that's not what this particular entry is for.

This one is to tell you this: )
splits_thesky: (vg: i will mangle your mind)

this is cut because of size! )

this is cut because of spoilers! )

I think that's it...?? idk, tell me what YOU thought!!

oh, and (mostly) unrelated, tonight I also met one of my friends' friends, and, you guys, she and I are going to be BFF. she adooooores MCR, Joss Whedon, HIMYM, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, AND she's a Marvel girl. WE'RE LIKE TWINS!!!

okay, bedtime now, I think...if I can even manage that, I'm still terrified. maybe it's Totally Rad Show (WHY AREN'T YOU WATCHING) time instead, we'll see.

by the way

splits_thesky: (Default)

...okay, fixed. I love how my first reaction when I see a bug is to KEEP TYPING, btw.

As I was saying:

I keep forgetting to post about this, but I saw Prince Caspian the other day (LOVED IT, omgz, thouuugh I think I still like the first one better), and so, um, new layout??? Sort of, anyway. I mean, it's the same, basically, just with a new header and colors.
I didn't even intend to change it, I was still digging the boys of The Academy Is... there at the top of my LJ, but I was searching for Narnia icons, came across this header, and said, "huh, that's really nice!!" ...and then, before I knew it, my LJ had been Narnia-ized. Narnized??? IDK.

Anyway, so, yeah, new layout (kind of), new default icon (which took me forever to settle on, but now I really, really love a lot), and new moodtheme. ...which is the only thing not Narnia-based, because I decided my moods would be better displayed by a boy and his pet tiger. AND SO THEY ARE.
splits_thesky: (Default)

DONE, AND DONE. \o/ !!!!!!!!!

And now, I am off to eat/nap (I had to wake up at 5 this morning, gag)/watch How I Met Your Mother (and, sidenote to you guys who watch: Ted/Marshall/Lily, y/y?? ...and I have a buttload of proof, so that's mostly a rhetorical question. Even more than it was when I just wasn't giving you another option, I mean. :D)!! WOOOOOOOOOOO.
splits_thesky: (misc: this car smells weird.)
Oh man, you guys. Half the time when I'm being a loser and living online, refreshing my flist every 5 minutes, no one updates. But as soon as I leave you guys alone, my flist EXPLODES. Srsly, I haven't checked my flist since Monday evening, and, like, everyone updated 500 times. You guys are like the dolls in A Little Princess, I love it. :DDDDD

The reason I was gone was because of a book. )

So, yeah. READ THIS BOOK!!!! I started at midnight last night, and have been reading practically nonstop ever since. A lot of the time I have to force myself to sleep or eat or something, because I just want to read forever.

...Oh, but I also took a break tonight to go see National Treasure: Book of Secrets. All I have to say about THAT is, SDIFUHAIDUKHSAFIUJHDF RILEY POOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLEEEEE OMGGGG<33333333333333333333333333333

Sooooo, yeah. TIME FOR MORE READING!!!!! \o/
splits_thesky: (misc: this car smells weird.)

A couple of days ago I saw National Treasure, got really excited by it (RILEY POOOOOOOOOOOLE OMG ♥♥), and, since then, have been on a hunt for movies featuring - uh, shall we say - historical shenanigating.
I just watched The Mummy (it was good, you just have to sort of turn your brain off), and I'm going to see National Treasure: Book of Secrets as soon as I possibly can, but there's gotta be more, right?? RIGHT?????

Um, so, if you know of any other good movies of the historical shenanigating type - plz to be sharing??

...Oh, except if the movie is Timeline, I couldn't even get past the first hour of that (IDEK!! It had so much going for it, too! AND YET.).

...Also, I'm on the phone with my BFF right now, and she just told me her boyfriend hates Cobra Starship. WHAT, DOES NOT COMPUTE, ETC, ETC.
splits_thesky: (newsies: so i think we should go steady)
So guys, who has seen Sky High and wants to talk to me about it??
Probably no one! But you all should, then, go waaaaaaaatchhhhh itttt (srsly, right now, go on), because it is awesomeeee omg!!!1!

And then, here are some things we can discuss:

2. Warren/Will (the hilarious height difference! BUT ALSO, the LOOKS!!!)!!

3. How Disney can just go and release some completely ridonkulous movie I had no intention of seeing, and I only have to accidentally watch about 75% of it to love it totally a lot, OH MY GOD, forget about the talking, somebody just hold me. *headdesk*

ETA: Oh, right, and that meme I was supposed to do.
Comment on this post and I'll give you a band. Don't worry, I'll try to make it one you know and love. You put your ten favorite songs by that band on your LJ and challenge others to do the same.

[livejournal.com profile] rain_dances gave me Dashboard Confessional... )
splits_thesky: (bandom: panic!: whaddup homeslice)
...AKA here is a list, because I'm too lazy to write a real entry:

1. Panic! at the Disco. OKAY NO LOOK, I loved them before, but now I kind of LOVE love them. And I don't even have a good reason! I haven't even finished watching the DVD (by which I mean, I've seen about 10 minutes of it so far), but there are already a million and one things I love about it. The way Brendon immediately goes, "FIRST SHOWER!!11!11!!!", and everyone else is just all, "....."!! The way Ryan laughs at something Bden says at that one point! SpencerSmith!! Ryan never sweats!! Jon Walker!! "I'm gonna get naked, is that cool?"!! The little high-fives they all do!! GOD, I COULD GO ON FOREVER. And just off of this little bit!! UGH, BOYS.
Also this morning, when I was kind of half asleep and half awake, I had this sort of dream(/daydream??) in which Brendon and I switched bodies. It wasn't as much fun as you'd think it might be, though, I was like, "I HAVE TO STUDY FOR FINALS!!!11!! AND I CAN'T SING!!!1!!!", and there was a lot of flailing. At the end, there was a bit where he and I (is that even proper grammar?? idk.) hung out together and giggled and ate marshmallows/threw them at each other, though, that was nice. ...Yeah.

2. Pete/Mikey! idek, guys, I just have become very...enraptured by their ~*~EPIC TALE OF LOVE AND LOSS~*~ lately. I even have an icon now, after swearing to myself I'd never have an icon of Pete Wentz's face!! And, like, a couple of days ago I got really mad at Pete for some dumb reason and pointedly skipped all the Fall Out Boy songs that came up on my iPod's shuffle ("UGH PETE, I HAVE NO INTEREST IN YOUR EMO TODAY), but I HAD to stop and listen to "Bang the Doldrums" (...unless it's about your sekrit love affair with Mikes, omg"). And, guys, this picture hurts my heart. UGH, WHAT THE HELL.

3. This song. I was flipping channels today, and caught about 5 seconds of it on a commercial, thought, "hey, that sounds vaguely cool", googled and downloaded it, and now have been listening to it ALL DAY. It's so bouncy! I feel like if it were a picture (shut up), it would be this one (AND YES, I KNOW THAT'S ACTUALLY MICHELLE BRANCH, LEAVE ME ALONE). I made a playlist of stuff to listen to while typing up this entry, and I just stuck this song in multiple times, so I could listen to it over and over.

...That's it, I think. And now, if you will excuse me, I have to go catch up on Psych so [livejournal.com profile] boheme06 doesn't punch me in the face.

ETA: Oh wait, there was a meme I was supposed to do, too. OH WELL, expect it next entry!! :D
splits_thesky: (vg: i will mangle your mind)
omg, you guys, suck!! :((((

Also. So today, after classes, I went over to UPenn, to visit my bff/neighbor, because I hadn't seen her in two whole weeks (you have to understand, we generally hang out, like, every other day). That was - an adventure, let's say, because I ended up having to walk 15 blocks from the train station to her campus. It wouldn't have been so bad, except a, it was HOT AS BALLS today, and b, this morning I decided I would pull a Jon Walker and wear my flip flops. Which WERE NOT MADE FOR WALKING, let me tell you. My poor feet, you guys! My poor, tired, dirty, blistered feet.

ANYWAY, while I was there, we went and saw 3:10 to Yuma!!

So yeah, everyone, GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!!! Except maybe not if you don't like guns/shooting. Or horses. Or cows.
BUT, and trust me on this, do NOT spoil yourself for it. Believe me, you'll like it (and yourself) a LOT more if you don't know what's coming. Like, if you haven't seen it yet, don't even THINK about clicking that LJ cut up there. FOR REALZ, I'M NOT KIDDING.

So yeah. I'm waaaaaaaaaay behind on watching Psych, but I'm exhausted (schlepping halfway around Philly + my having woken up at 6 this morning + my not having gotten much sleep this week at all = NO FUN. Srsly, I can barely walk in a straight line without feeling like I'm going to fall down. Or throw up.), covered in sweat and dirt (my mom picked me up from the train station just now, and the first thing she said when I got in the car was, "Divya, you smell." NO LIE.), and hungry beyond belief (I haven't eaten since noon!), sooooo it's going to have to wait. Well, at least until I take a shower(/stand lifelessly under the spray of water) and get some food in my system.

OH ALSO. When I was getting on the train home today, this cute boy smiled at me, and I almost fell into the gap between the platform and the train. OKAY, I didn't REALLY, but I think that's only because the gap was pretty small. But still, LOOOOOOOOOOOOL MY LIFE.
splits_thesky: (vg: i will mangle your mind)
During Friday's Baleathon, my friends and I watched, among other things, Velvet Goldmine. I didn't know what to expect going into it, having just been told, "It's...weird." And, well yeah, it was. I only understood about half of the movie, but somehow, I found myself strangely, somewhat inexplicably, endeared to it.
Today, practically all day, I've been scouring LJ and the assorted intarwebz for Goldmine-related things, while playing the soundtrack on repeat. I don't even know, you guys, it IS weird, and I still don't think I understand a lot of the movie, but...I don't know, it makes me feel safe?? It's such a weird thing to say, but it's a feeling I got while I was watching the movie too. Really good movies, I think, should almost transport you into them; in Velvet Goldmine, especially during the last half hour or so, it totally did that. I know practically nothing about glam rock, but I felt like it didn't even really matter so much. Idk, it may just be me, but what I got out of it was more a story of the people, with glam just sort of as a means and a background. If that makes any sense. Read more... )

For [livejournal.com profile] 7timesfate, but really also for anyone with cable: DON'T FORGET, the new Drake&Josh movie, Really Big Shrimp, debuts tonight at 8 pm Eastern. And if you're going to miss it, like me (shush, I have a good reason!), it'll rerun tomorrow, at the same time, following an 8 hour Drake&Josh marathon. And if you miss it then too, or just don't have cable, I'm pretty sure it'll be up at turbonick.com soon. YAAAAAAAAY!!!!

The reason I'm going to miss it (and Psych too, for that matter), and the reason this post is so early, is because a bunch of friends and I are having a Baleathon - that is, a marathon of Christian Bale movies. Today was the only day we were all free, SO. Actually, I have to go now, because the Baleathon is scheduled to start in about 5 minutes. So toodles, enjoy all your TV watching!! :D
splits_thesky: (hp: teh map)
I know you all probably have a bajillion posts on your flist like this (and if you don't yet, well, you will), so sorry, but I just got back from OotP... )

Uhh, so I think that's it?? idk, can't really process right now, I'm half-asleep. But if I think of more, I'll just add it here. But bedtime for me now! I have to, actually, wake up tomorrow (today...??) at 7, to head in for my summer classes (first thing in the morning is dance, too! JOY.). So yeah, 3 hours of sleep, here I come!
